Harvard Squash represented at the World Doubles in St. Louis

Doug Lifford ’89 dominated the M50+ age division and won the world title, while current Harvard team members and alumni competed in the professional draws of the World Doubles Championships in St. Louis at the end of September.

Lifford together with his partner, Scott Poirier, didn’t lose a game on the way to the championship, beating locals Joe Dolan and Keith Vidal in the final.

In the women’s pro tournament, Kayley Leonard ’19 and Natalie Grainger had a tough draw as they faced the eventual world champions, England’s Georgina Stoker and Susie Pierrepoint, in the quarter-finals. Leonard/Grainger ended up losing in five close games after being 2-1 up. Leonard also entered the mixed draw with Greg Park but lost in the first round.

On the men’s side, Mandela Patrick ’18 paired up with Ryan Abraham ’05, representing Trinidad and Tobago. They lost in the first round to Team Finland, featuring current Harvard assistant coach, Hameed Ahmed. Finland ended up losing against the top-seeded English team in the second round.
