Women Win Ivy Scrimmages, Men’s Team Finishes 2nd

The Ivies traveled to New Haven for the first weekend in November to kick off the season at the annual Ivy Scrimmages . While our women’s team won their draw, our men’s team lost a close final against Columbia.

Both teams beat Brown in the first round to advance to the semifinals. In the semis, the women’s team beat Yale and our men won against Penn.

Our women continued their solid performances in the final and ended up beating Princeton 8-1. While Harvard was missing Sabrina Sobhy ’19 who is studying abroad in Portugal for the fall semester, Princeton was also playing without a few of their top players. Based on the scrimmage, the official Ivy season will once again be closely contested.

The men had beaten Columbia 5-4 in the last 3 matches they had played against the Lions. This time, Columbia clinched the match 5-4 and won the men’s draw. Just like on the women’s side, more and more teams are in contention for this year’s Ivy title.

The teams enjoyed a great dinner with the parents on Saturday evening after a long day of matches. Thank you again to everyone who attended and helped organize the event.

The official Ivy season starts on December 6th when Harvard travels to Dartmouth.
