Our men’s team put up a great fight against Trinity in the national final yesterday but lost the match 6-3 in the end. Trinity’s players were as strong as expected on their home courts and never let go of their early lead in the match. Five of the nine matches were five-setters.
Despite the loss, the men’s team had a successful year. During the regular season, the team only lost two matches (against Trinity and Columbia) and was able to take revenge against Columbia in the national semifinal this past weekend. Harvard finished second both in the Ivy League and the nation.
It would have been amazing to end the season with a national championship but Trinity was the better team on the day. While disappointed about yesterday’s loss, the coaches feel that the team matured and improved significantly throughout the season and are proud of everything the young men accomplished this year.
The last event of the season is coming up this weekend: Individual Nationals kick off on Friday in Washington D.C. The draws will be published on the CSA website later this week.
