Both Teams Crowned Ivy Champions

This past weekend marked the last round of regular season play and both of our teams secured their respective Ivy titles. Harvard men and women remained unbeaten within the Ivy League this season.

After wins against Brown on Friday and the women’s victory over Stanford on Saturday, the teams faced Yale on Sunday in the last match before team nationals.

The women continued their strong run and only lost two individual games against Yale. It’s the second-straight Ivy title for the women and the team will head to the women’s nationals at Princeton (Feb 24-26) as the #1 seed.

While Harvard got off to a great start and won the first four matches, Yale gained momentum and won matches at #1, #2, #6 and #7 (the Ivy League has randomized the order of play this season). However, sophomore #9 Alexi Gosset had gotten a great start in the clincher and was able to close his match out in three games to secure the win over Yale and the Ivy title.

The men will go into team nationals (Feb 17-19 at Harvard) ranked #2 in the nation and will face #7 Yale again in the first round. The match starts at 3:30pm on Friday.

Seniors

The Yale match was the last home game for our nine seniors (in the picture above): Katie Tutrone, Will Mendez, Caroline Monrad, Bryan Koh, Devin McLaughlin, Dylan Murray, Gordon Michas, Dileas MacGowan and Keegan Mendez. Time flies!
