Spring Update & 2018-19 Season In A Nutshell

As the CSA and Ivy League have now published all of their post-season awards, we want to start the update with a final summary of our 2018-19 season:

 

– Men’s & Women’s National Champions
– Men’s & Women’s Ivy Champions
– Men’s & Women’s Individual National Champions – Victor Crouin & Gina Kennedy
– Men’s & Women’s Ivy Player of the Year – Victor Crouin & Sabrina Sobhy
– Men’s & Women’s Ivy Coach of the Year – Mike Way
– 9 All Americans
– 7 First Team All Ivy Honors
– 9 CSA Scholar-Athletes

 

Harvard Squash Represented At US Nationals – Sobhy Makes Women’s Open Final

Harvard Squash had a successful weekend in Washington D.C. where this year’s U.S. Nationals took place a few weeks ago.

In the women’s open division, Sabrina Sobhy ’19 made it all the way to the final before losing against Olivia Blatchford Clyne. Hope Prockop ’90 and Margaret Elias Gerety ’02 reached the round of 16, as did Timmy Brownell ’20 on the men’s side.

In the masters draws, Harvard Club of New York’s Head Squash Pro, Richard Chin, won his fourth M45+ national title while Prockop won both the W40+ and W50+ divisions. To top it off, Jay Nelson ‘62 won the M75+ category, making it his 31st national singles title.

Tim Wyant ’00 was the finalist in the M40+ draw and Ed Burlingame ‘57 finished third in the M80+ division. Meanwhile, James Masland ’90 (M50+) and Jackie Corrigan Curay ’83 (W55+) both finished fourth in their draws. Chip Robie ’82 made the round of 16 in the M55+ division.

Lemmons & Tutrones Win Father-Son and Mother-Daughter Nationals

George B. ’83 & George Lemmon, Jr. became the first four-time U.S. Father-Son Doubles champions while Lissen & Katie ’17 Tutrone topped the inaugural Mother-Daughter Open division a couple of weeks ago. Meanwhile, Zeke Scherl ’13 reached the semifinal together with his father, Michael. Hope Prockop ’90 finished fourth with her daughter, Molly.

Dave Fish Inducted Into ITA Men’s Collegiate Tennis Hall of Fame

We also want to congratulate Dave Fish ’72 who will be inducted into the ITA Men’s Collegiate Tennis Hall of Fame in May. You can read more about the induction and Dave’s career in this article.
